From The Greensborough Patriot

From The Greensborough Patriot

March 6, 1862 – Pg. 2

Rockingham.

We are pleased to learn that a new impetus has been given to the patriotic citizens of Rockingham by the late reverses to our arms, and that the whole county is aroused to enthusiasm in support of the war.  No draft will be required there, to make her quota of soldiers.

We are gratified to learn that Samuel H. Boyd, Esq., has succeeded in raising a company of more than one hundred as fine men as could be called into service.  This company has been organized by unanimously electing Mr. Boyd, Captain, Wilson D. Moore, 1st Lieutenant; James A. Hopkins, 2nd Lt.; and A. T. Walker, 3rd Lt.

This company will soon be tendered to the Government for the war.

In addition to this, we learn that Col. John H. Dillard has a company far advanced to completion; Dr. James Courts and Dr. John W. May, are each also engaged in raising companies for the war, with fair prospects of success.  Let all other counties of the State follow the noble and patriotic example of Rockingham.
